As it is now the start of the New Year, I believe everyone is filled with energy to achieve their goals with a fresh mindset. There is a secret that people often overlook when it comes to completing tasks or achieving goals. I would like to share that with you today as a New Year's gift.

Happiness Leads to Success

Most people tend to think: “Work hard, then you'll succeed; succeed, then you'll be happy.” In reality, it doesn’t work that way. You need to be happy to succeed. This is one of the secrets of progress. To put it another way, happiness is not just a result, it is also a cause. Let's discuss why.

The Science Behind a Happy Brain

Let’s look at two scientifically proven facts regarding happiness:

  • Dopamine: Scientifically speaking, happiness involves a hormone called Dopamine. This hormone is released when we experience happiness, satisfaction, or pleasure. It is said that when dopamine is released, the brain's learning capacity improves significantly.
  • Performance: When you have positive feelings, brain performance is better, allowing you to discover information you might miss during normal times or find solutions you wouldn't think of while stressed. You have likely experienced this yourself; it is exactly why people say, "Keep a cool head when solving a problem."

Productivity and Success

There is a buzzword used often these days: "Productivity." This refers to how you complete tasks or how much time you spend on meaningful work. As mentioned before, when brain performance increases due to happiness, high productivity and successful progress become the natural, subsequent results.

Let’s Work with Joy in the Workplace

If we know the effect, we must create the cause, right? Since we know that success brings happiness, but happiness also brings success, try working happily every time you are at the office.

This doesn't have to be anything grand. It can be tiny happiness like enjoying a good cup of coffee, working with focus at a clean, organized desk, laughing and collaborating with your colleagues.

The result is that both you and those around you will feel at peace in the present, your work will be successful, and you will surely reach your future goals. Therefore, to be successful while being happy, and happy while being successful, I’m sharing this little secret: "Work with Joy."
